Thrillophilia review for Spiti trip

What can be a better vacation for bike lovers than an 8-9-day-long backpacking bike trip to Spiti Valley? Yes, that is what we thought when me and my friends booked a trip from Thrillophilia. As we have heard a lot about the company and even checked for the Spiti trip review with Thrillophilia, this time we finally took the chance.

An adventure with Thrillophilia, a journey to remember

We have been in constant contact with Avantika since the day, we enquired about the package. The booking process went quite smoothly as we knew exactly what kind of trip we would like. Our departure was from Chandigarh, and as we all already had our own bikes, all we had to do was meet the representative at the designated point. From there we started our journey to Shimla, our first stop. It took around 4-5 hours to reach our hotel in Shimla along with the other bikers (it was a group departure).

The next day, we set out for Kalpa. It was the month of April and the roads were, I must say butter-smooth. Going through the famous hairpin bends on this route truly shot up our adrenaline rush, and we understood that this journey is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Day 3 we hit the road for Kaza, exploring Dhankar Monastery on the way.

One of the best things we found about Thrillophilia is their arrangements and well-planned itineraries. Their package was on point. At night, we even opted for an open-sky camp here as I, especially, really enjoy gazing at the night sky.

In the morning of day 4, we went in and around the place for local sightseeing; and then again jumped on the bike to go to our next destination- Nako. We spent almost an hour in the Key Monastery and the Nako Monastery. Thankfully, there was a leading guide with us at all times, taking us around the places and giving us tidbits about the local myths and cultural insights. His name was Sparsh, and I genuinely send my regards to him and all his services.

Day 5 started off with a punctured tyre of one of our bikes, and a heavy heart. However, it was taken care of quite quickly by Sparsh as we were still in Nako at that time. We had an unexpected expense that threw us off the budget. In my mind, I was calculating how to spend the next few days, but when you are surrounded by such breathtaking landscapes, you get immune to worries.

We made our way to Chitkul, the road to which was so steep that I felt my heart racing, with the cold wind beating our faces and sending chills down the spines.

We had a hearty maggie bowl at “Hindustan ka akhri dhaba”

while staring at the almost invisible Indo-China border. Thrillophilia had arranged for a quaint homestay in Chitkul whose views were too good to be true. The nightfall temperatures made us shiver. But, with bonfires and Old Monk, we had a really nice time, finally dancing and singing our way to sleep.

Waking up the next day, we had to start back to Narkanda…so we decided to take a small detour and go about Chitkul for some time. We had a beautiful time together fooling about and clicking pictures here. We had to return as soon as our group would depart, and since there was no network, we had to be punctual.

The last day of the trip- waking up to the mesmerising sight of a vast meadow

we realised that today was the final day of our little escape, and we decided to use it to the fullest. We took a sightseeing tour of Narkanda, visiting the Narkanda temple. Hiking to the Hatu peak, and then indulging in some amazing Chha Gosht and Siddu for dinner.

All in all, we all had a great time travelling with Thrillophilia; just like we read in many of Thrillophilia’s spiti trip review. The meals were local, enhancing the backpacking feel, the accommodations were comfortable with reasonable prices, and the camping experience was too good. Although they could do better with managing large group tours, eventually everybody had retired safely.

We came back to Chandigarh the next day, a journey that was irritating after such a beautiful road trip.

But anyhow, we reached home and received a call from Sparsh. He asked about our trip and our feedback. He also asked us to drop a Spiti trip review on the website.

I am sure, if we were asked to take another adventure trip, we would choose a Nepal trip this time. And yes, we would choose to travel with Thrillophilia again!
