All About Pondicherry

Pondicherry is also known as Puducherry. It is one of the 7 union territories of India and also the oldest French colony of India. When you visit, you can still see the influence of the French region. The closest airport to Pondicherry is Chennai. From there one can take a bus which takes 4 hours. There are private AC buses that take anywhere from INR 250-350 one way, and government non AC buses that take 80-120 INR one way. Depending on the season and type of travel, you can choose your ride. I tried both as I like to connect with the locals more while on a trip.

What is the best time to visit Pondicherry?

The best time to visit Pondicherry is between November – January as the climate is quite pleasant which makes travel and staying at each of the locations very easy.

You must remember that when visiting here, things to do, and places to visit are mostly out in the open, in front of the sun, and also very close to nature. Hence choosing a suitable climate for your visit becomes important.

The worst time to visit is March to June as its quite hot, sunny and makes you feel very tired, exhausted, and dehydrated quickly.
